Nazri said that lawmakers from the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition would receive a certain allowance to spend on their constituents but could not recall how much; he related that the figure used to be capped at RM300,000 per constituency but had been raised to RM1 million at one time.
“There is no standard. It depends on the availability of funds,” the Padang Rengas MP said.
He added that opposition MPs from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) could still approach the PM directly to fund a project in their area even if they were not given a set allowance.
